Experienced instructors, seniors themselves, provide a flexible stress free approach to help you learn guitar at your own pace. Whether or not you have any musical experience, you can enjoy exploring your own musical journey with us!

As you progress, you may want to share a song with the group or just play along with others.
The Monday “Acoustic Jam” class is a fun welcoming space for seniors to play and sing songs together. All acoustic instruments are welcome, guitars, ukuleles, mandolins, banjos and more! There is no instruction provided here.
Share Your Passion
Participate in gatherings and community music events.
Connect with other senior musicians and talk about your experiences. Share coffee, meals, or join us as we play and sing around Irvine to lift the spirits of others.

What is Irvine Melody?
Irvine Melody is a musical community in Irvine formed specifically for seniors. We offer guitar lessons, group play along sessions, and opportunities to share music with others.
How can I join the Irvine Melody community?
Simply register online for one of our two guitar classes for seniors (Beginning or Intermediate) offered through the City of Irvine at YourIrvine.org. Once we receive notice of your registration we will reach out to welcome you and answer any questions.
** NOTE: Registration fills up very fast. Check the Irvine website for details.
Are there any costs associated with classes or the jam?
No! The beginning and intermediate classes, along with the weekly Acoustic Jam are completely free. However, you must provide your own guitar and music stand; and a basic electronic tablet is required for the Jam in order to access the jam songbook.
Can I participate if I have no prior music experience?
Absolutely! Our beginning guitar class welcome individuals with no prior music experience. They are designed to help beginners learn and enjoy music in a friendly environment.
